Up and Coming: Killing the Messenger

Killing The MessengerEveryday, the world introduces new fans to the metalcore & hardcore world of music, putting pressure on artists in those fields and creating a potentially bigger fan base for them; which leads us onto Killing The Messenger, a Californian based metalcore/hardcore band. Although, these guys aren’t just your average hardcore band, they posses talent much greater than many others!

First, let’s talk a little bit about Killing The Messenger. Formally, they were known as From Beginning to End and were formed in San Diego in California, USA. Each band member’s favorite genres are of different origins which brings a new and interesting gathering of music together but also quite refreshing and it ranges vastly. With well over 3000 fans and over 350 people talking about Killing The Messenger on Facebook, they have certainly built up an impressive following having been together since April 2011. However, we, along with many others, believe they have great potential in the near future and are more than capable of gaining more fans.

The band’s latest release, also available for free download, it titled “Captive”. This is a very heavy and energetic track which I’m sure we would all expect from a band like this. Every second of the track never fails to please you as you get even more eager to jump out of your chair and just headbang or jump along to it! The fun doesn’t stop there though, the band also have their very own YouTube channel, where you can catch music videos and live performances of Killing The Messenger, plus recent footage from SOMA.

If you happen to be reading from the San Diego area of California, then some of their upcoming events may be of interest for you. They will be playing at Epicentre and other venues very soon: to find out more check out their Facebook page.

We definitely realize that Killing The Messenger do have talent and deserve every single fan they have plus many more! Show your support and listen to them on SoundCloud, subscribe to them on YouTube and give them a like on Facebook.

Up and Coming: The One Twos

By James  //  Up and Coming  //  No Comments

The One TwosThis weeks feature in the ‘Up and Coming’ series is the wonderfully talented The One Twos, a new wave/indie pop band from Kidderminster, UK. I want to take this opportunity now though to highlight the wonderful music these guys create, and why you should listen to it!

The One Twos managed to reach over 800 plays on some of their tracks within just a couple of days of them been uploaded, according to their Facebook page. However, we believe they can do better! After listening to some of their tracks on SoundCloud, I couldn’t help notice how similar to The Arctic Monkeys they sound, and I adore The Arctic Monkeys. While “I Don’t Claim Benefits” instantly grabbed the attention of my ears, I could not fault the track at all. Although, I would have to say “Peacock Pirates” is the most energetic track of those available.

So then, to conclude, I certainly predict a bright future for this new wave/indie pop sensation and definitely they deserve more plays on SoundCloud and more likes on Facebook. Go on, give them a listen and a like, and share this article to show your support using the buttons below. You may also want to subscribe to them on YouTube.

Up and Coming: BuryTheLadybird

BuryTheLadybird
This time on the ‘Up and Coming’ feature here on AllWhatsRock, we will be highlighting the work of a four piece rock band, named BuryTheLadybird. After been formed in 2009 as young friends and music lovers, they have managed to build up a fan base of nearly 3000 people!  Notorious for their catchy sleaze rock riffs with jazz and blues infused lyrics, we’re sure they are worth your time to listen to some of their tracks!

The band currently consists of Tiggy Dockerty (Vocals), Matt Gascoyne (Guitar), Zach Shannon (Bass), and Seb Boyse (Drums). Also, according to their Facebook page, they claim their influence to be life, which I find very interesting and inspirational in so many ways!

However, I want to highlight a new single by the band which is titled “This Isn’t Me” and is released on 2nd April 2012. This energetic rock single is worth a listen by every rock music fan and I believe it and the band deserve way more recognition than they already have. After listening to some of their other music, I discovered that every chord and every riff is certainly worth every second of your time! You can find their music on YouTube and Facebook.
